17/04/2025 23:46 - Capel St Vintage Shop
the vintage shop in capel st is the best thrift store in dublin. every time i go in there (bi-weekly) there's always new cool and weird stuff. i've gotten a good few walkmen and tapes in there since i've been going to college. the first thing i got there was a 1950s reel to reel player which i'm pretty sure works, i cleaned it out and replaced some bits but i have no idea how to power the thing. its been sitting in the shed for a while so i hope to get it out again and try figure out how to get it working, cause i got actual blank reels of tape i wanna record music onto. bit of a tangent lol.. but today i got a video-8 tape and a pair of htc earphones. ever since my actual headphones broke at the machine girl gig i've just been living off cheap earphones. at least these ones are comfy tho :3
02/04/2025 17:44 - theDragon's Debut
i'd love to share this amazing record sent to me by theDragon, their debut album. the record contains tracks heavily inspired by the late, great Daniel Johnston. tracks like 'Whistle' and 'Waiting in the Reign' celebrate the lofi home tape recording side of DJ, with theDragon recording these songs on a 1980s fischer-price tape recorder. All revenue generated from the album will be donated to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF). Pls check it out!! https://spokersrecords.bandcamp.com/album/sleeper-test
02/04/2025 17:37 - Digital Frenzy
i'm currently in the process of digitizing my records and tapes. starting off with I Start Counting's "Catalouge" cassette which features remixes by Fortran 5 and an awesome industrial mix of 'Letters to a Friend' by Daniel Miller. Right now I'm digitizing 'Switched-on Bach' by Wendy Carlos, my Japanese copy from 1969. It has lots of cool additions like an OBI and exclusive artwork, like a portrait of Johann "Electronics" Bach composed entirely out of HTML lettering. Super cool. I may add some of these files here after I'm done digitizing.
